1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly: When you create an account, we collect your name, username, email address, profile picture, and any other information you choose to provide. When you upload videos, we collect the video file, title, description, and hashtags. When you make a purchase (coins, subscriptions), we collect transaction details – but we never store your full payment card information; that’s handled by Flutterwave.

Information collected automatically: When you use Givvii, we automatically collect:

Usage data: videos you watch, likes, comments, gifts sent/received, search queries, and how you interact with the platform.
Device & browser data: IP address, device type, operating system, browser version, screen resolution.
Location data: approximate country/region derived from your IP address.
Essential cookies: We use only essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (e.g., theme, language). No third‑party advertising or tracking cookies are used.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and improve Givvii – show your feed, process gifts, recommend videos, fix bugs.
Process payments and payouts – buy coins, send gifts, withdraw earnings.
Communicate with you – send account updates, security alerts, and (rarely) promotional messages (you can opt out).
Enforce our Terms of Use – detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, and violations of community guidelines.
Personalise your experience – recommend videos and creators you might like.
Analyse and improve performance – understand how users interact with Givvii to make it better.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

Service providers: Supabase (database & authentication), Backblaze B2 (video storage), Flutterwave (payment processing), Netlify (hosting). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only for the services they perform for Givvii.
Legal compliance: If required by law or in response to a valid legal request (e.g., court order, subpoena).
Business transfers: If Givvii is ever acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred – we will notify you before that happens.
With your consent: For any other purpose, we will ask for your explicit permission.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

Your profile information, videos, comments, likes, and gifts are permanently deleted from our active database within 24 hours.
Backup copies are kept for 30 days (to allow for accidental deletion recovery) and then permanently erased.
Some aggregated or anonymised data (e.g., total gift amounts for a video) may be retained for analytics and financial auditing purposes.

You can request early deletion of your backup data by emailing privacy@givvii.com – but note that this will make recovery impossible.

5. Your Rights (GDPR / NDPR)

If you are in Nigeria (under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, NDPR) or the European Economic Area (GDPR), you have the following rights:

Right to access – request a copy of all data we hold about you.
Right to rectification – correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) – request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
Right to data portability – receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to object / restrict processing – stop certain types of processing (e.g., direct marketing).

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use only essential cookies necessary for the operation of Givvii. These include:

Authentication cookies – keep you logged in.
Preference cookies – remember your theme selection (dark/light mode).
Session cookies – manage your active session.

We do not use any third‑party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics that collect personal data. You can block all cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may break certain features (e.g., staying logged in).

7. Children’s Privacy

Givvii is not intended for children under 13 years old (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@givvii.com and we will delete it immediately.

8. Security Measures

We take data security seriously. We use encryption (SSL/TLS) for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers. Passwords are hashed using Supabase’s secure authentication. Video files are stored on Backblaze B2 with encrypted access. Access to sensitive data is restricted to authorised personnel only. However, no system is 100% secure – you use Givvii at your own risk.

9. International Data Transfers

Givvii is operated from Nigeria, but we use service providers located in other countries (e.g., Backblaze in the US, Supabase in multiple regions). By using Givvii, you consent to the transfer of your data to these countries. We ensure that all providers comply with applicable data protection laws (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses for EU data).

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if you have provided one) and by displaying a prominent notice on the Givvii website. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the latest changes were made. Your continued use of Givvii after any change constitutes acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
